What Is a Unity Candle?

A unity candle is when the couple each take a lit candle and simultaneously light up a third unity candle together.  This is commonly used at wedding ceremonies.

They may blow out their individual lights, or they can leave them lit. This symbolizes that they have not lost their individuality in their unity.
