What Is an Appliqué?
Lace Appliqués are decorative motifs which are normally sewn onto an existing fabric such as tulle or netting.
The appliqués are often sewn in with a matching lace or lace trim.
- Appliqué is ornamental needlework in which pieces or patches of fabric are sewn or stuck together onto a larger piece to form a picture or a pattern.
- This technique is accomplished by using either hand stitching or machine stitching.
- An appliqué is a beautiful decorative addition to a wedding dress and is made up of one type of fabric on top of the wedding dress fabric.
- Some can include fabric flowers, lace, sequins, and many other types of sparkles. It can also consist of more intricate pieces such as die-cut appliqués.
